CI/TRANSCAER: Rail Safety & Hazmat Emergency Response Training

Southern Railway of B.C. (SRY), 2102 River Drive - New Westminster, BC

Join the Chlorine Institute and TRANSCAER for a full day of rail safety and hazmat emergency response training in New Westminster, BC on either December 10th or December 11th, 2019. 

Where: Training will take place at Southern Railway of B.C. (SRY), 2102 River Drive, New Westminster, BC V3M 6S3. 

When: December 10 and 11, 2019 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. 

What: Field exercises that will teach you the basics of tank cars, chlorine emergency response, A-Kits, B-Kits, and C-Kits, Midland emergency response kits, and the magnetic patch and a classroom session that will cover railroad 101, chlorine chemical & physical properties, and chlorine emergency response. 

Featured hazmat: Toxic gases (Chlorine & Hydrogen Chloride); Corrosive Liquids (Hydrochloric Acid & Caustic Soda) & Flammable Gases (Vinyl Chloride).

BC Regional TRANSCAER Committee Meeting

The spring regular quarterly meeting on March 19th 2020 will convene at the Township of Langley Fire Hall 6 on the second floor meeting room at 0900.  Amongst the regular items will be a presentation by J. Boudreau on recent changes to the TDG regulations and we will be discussing the upcoming TRANSCAER event in Kamloops.

Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response Training Day

1250 Rogers Way - Kamloops, BC

CANCELLED:  AS OF MARCH 17, 2020 THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC AND RESPONSE.

This training is for community first responders including police and fire, community emergency planners and their supporting partners.  It will include a morning classroom session at the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre at 1250 Rogers Way in Kamloops followed by a lunch then move to the CN rail yards for the field station portion of the training. 

There will be dangerous goods transportation equipment and training aids to show service equipment and safety features associated with the various transport equipment including emergency response contractor support.  Personnel from industry and government will be attending to instruct and advise participants regarding response strategies, their roles and responsibilities during dangerous goods incidents.
