Hazmat Emergency Response Training

ECRC~SIMEC Dartmouth Response Centre - Dartmouth, NS

On March 26, 2019 from 9AM to 2PM, the Chlorine Institute, in partnership with Brenntag Canada, will be hosting an event on Hazmat and Emergency Response Training at the ECRC~SIMEC Dartmouth Response Centre (address: 41 Mount Hope Ave, Woodside, NS B2Y 4R4.)

Register now by contacting Zach Konway (contact information below) to learn about toxic gases (chlorine) and corrosive liquids (hydrochlorig acid & caustic soda).  Training involves both an in-class lesson on toxic gases and corrosive liquids and a true-to-life field exercise using 150-lb cylinders and chlorine ton containers.  Lunch, training materials and a certificate of completion will be provided. 

Please remember that you must show up with the following required PPE: hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, safety vest, long pants, and steel-toed or composite-toed boots.

Burlington Emergency Preparedness Open House

Burlington Fire Headquarters - Burlington, ON

From 10AM to 3PM on Saturday, May 4th, TRANSCAER® will be participating in the Emergency Preparedness Open House at Burlington Fire Headquarters, located at Station No. 1, 1255 Fairview St. 

Registration is free! Sign up now to learn how chemicals and hazardous materials are safely handled to to keep you safe with fun, hands-on activities:

  • Touch-a-truck-and-learn
  • Incident Command trailer
  • Decontamination trailer
  • CN Rail’s Training trailer
  • Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response (TRANSCAER®)
  • “You Be the Chemist” - hands on activities

Cranbrook BC TRANSCAER Training Day

57 Van Horne Street South - Cranbrook, BC

This training is a full day session involving both road and rail transportation of dangerous goods.  There will be presentations on emergency response topics during the morning session that deal with fighting large volume flammable liquid fires from transportation equipment, presentations on rail safety, LPG, response aids and sources of help as well as government presentations on transportation accident response. 

The field portion of the day will involve learning about highway tank trucks and rail equipment involved in dangerous goods service, their valve types and emergency systems.  Other learning stations will include emergency service providers displays, chlorine emergency response techniques and fire fighting foam trailers used by the industry.
